Hello all! In less than 10 days I will be boarding a plane headed straight to Cape Town, South Africa! I cannot begin to say how excited I am for this journey. Ever since I got into the nursing program at Uconn I have been dreaming of this day and finally making it to Cape Town. Today I attended the study abroad kick off dinner up at Uconn and got to meet both of my professors who will be coming with me to Cape Town. I will be learning about pediatric and obstetric nursing this fall and cannot wait to soak up all the knowledge from them! I learned today a little bit about what to expect when I land in a completely different continent next week and because of that I am a bit relieved! I will be having clinical Mon-Wed during the week at a variety of sites including muslim hospitals, an orphanage for HIV+ kids, and a walkin clinic for mothers and their infants. On Thursday and Fridays I will be having around 7 hours of class at the University of Cape Town which is around a mile walk from the house I'll be staying in. However, the first 12 days of my adventure I will be going on "excursions" including a safari and many other places they have yet to tell us about! Cannot wait to see it all! Okay, so just wanted to get this blog rolling, but I will definitely post much more exciting things when I get there next week!
Gotta get to sleep so I can start packing tomorrow!
